Aggressive Low Kick Tricks “Right Leg Hospital. Left Leg Cemetery.”

Low Kick Techniques and Tricks Stemming from Pattern Breaks [Tutorial Video]

The quote “Right leg hospital. Left leg cemetery.” was used to describe World Champion Kickboxer, Mirko Cro Cop’s kicking power. Lightning quick with his right kick, and even more dangerous with his knockout left kick. Out of all kicking techniques, I have always believed that the low kick has been the one most underutilized. In my coaching experience, it largely stems from the fact that fighters often lack the proper setups to find their distance, as well as the tactics needed to rid themselves of the fear that comes with having your kick checked/blocked.

Why do I think the low kick is underutilized? Much like body shots, the low kick is a long term investment in a fight:

  1. It slows down your opponent’s movement and attacks.
  2. It is an excellent counter against heavy-handed boxers.
  3. It is a high return on investment. The body kick requires you to extend, to explode your body weight up. The low kick is almost the antagonist, it requires you to drop your body weight in a heavy, relaxed, yet ferocious fashion.
  4. It sets up the opening for a knockout head kick as opponents reach down or fold with the kick.
  5. It can be used as a finishing technique itself – as you will witness in the tutorial video below.

In this video, we break down some of the most common patterns in the game of kickboxing to create openings for the changeup. These foundational patterns are common for a reason – the reason being? They work very well. As patterns are set, a knowledgable fighter will apply the appropriate defensive technique. By using the pattern breaks explained in the video, the “appropriate” defensive techniques used by the opponent actually open them up to new offensive tricks.

Drill these with a partner or try them out in sparring, then make sure to come back and let me know if you were successful at these techniques. For the Full Digital Low Kick Seminar – Join Our Exclusive Platform Here. We’ll see each other again next week with a brand new video:
