How to Develop More Confidence & Belief in Yourself | TMTG #102

Are Results Bred by Confidence? Or is Confidence Bred by Results?

On this week’s podcast Sean Fagan and Paul Banasiak cover an important topic that many struggle with not only inside the gym, but in everyday life. Imagine if we tackled every obstacle with confidence, felt comfortable in every argument that we got into, slowly fading away any limiting thought within our brain until we reached the point of knowing exactly how to act in every situation. I asked myself. . . is that actually realistic? 

Seldom do ideal situations present themselves when we aim high, the second that we become stressed, the second that we feel the walls closing in from each side, we have to be ready. So, I ask again, “are results bred by confidence? Or is confidence bred by results?”. I think that as vicious of a cycle that stress and depression can become, confidence works in a similar way. A win keeps the wheels spinning, while a loss might cause us to freeze in place, feeling like we are out of gas.

At the end of the day, we cannot control what happened after the words spilled from our mouth, after we made a questionable life decision, after we made a mistake; however, we have full, conscious control of the next step that we take – this divide is critical and can lead to a new beginning or the beginning of the end. I promise you that the road full of obstacles and self-doubt inducing questions is ultimately the correct path to confidence. . .
