Ognjen Topic Talks About the Hurdles of Becoming Successful
Muay Thai is coming LIVE for the first time to UFC Fight Pass & it is headlined by one of America’s Finest, Ognjen Topic.
These are the micro movements in the sport that will inevitably reach a mainstream audience. It boggles the mind of all who have been introduced to Muay Thai why it has not received the exposure needed to hit the general public on a massive scale. There is worldwide competition at a technical level that far supersedes that of many other combat sports, the general population “oos” and “awes” at the “stand and bang” style of fighting, “boos” at the sight of technical grappling, and we now seem to be at a stage of opportunity.
Following the basic principal of supply and demand. Supporting the sport from all facets, having a demand for more shows, having a demand to see them live, and having a demand to see specific athletes is destined to have a snowball effect on the sport of Muay Thai as a whole; creating the opportunities needed for promotors, athletes, trainers and the youth.
An opportunity to create demand is here. Ognjen Topic talks about the first major Muay Thai Title bout to be streamed on UFC Fight Pass, fleeing his war torn home in Europe, what it truly takes to see any signs of success, and the future of his career:
. . . and yes I sometimes sleep in a leather jacket. Whenever it’s below 40 degrees my genetic make up seems to revert back to its European roots.
