Travel, Fulfillment & Social Health | The Extroverted Introverts

Let’s extract the meaning of extroversion and dive deeper into the label of being an introvert. After this past week in Costa Rica, spending time with beautiful people from all around the world, and daily meditation, a number of epiphanies came to mind.

I considered myself introverted for the majority of my life. Not because I didn’t communicate much with others or have an outgoing personality, but because I said no to almost every social event and gathering until the age of 22. I didn’t have anxiety or ill feeling towards going out, the idea just never stimulated me enough. Other endeavors had my attention.

As time passed, I believe that I have elevated the circle of people around me, all of which was the catalyst that stimulated my epiphany; I was never antisocial, I was attempting to force a connection with people who were on a contrasting wavelength. I enjoyed traveling by myself, but I began to find myself more interested in going to new lands to meet different people, to learn about their culture and upbringing. This led to late nights, early mornings, booking flights in under 24 hours and traveling to Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, England, Poland, Laos, Costa Rica, California and Canada within the last year.

This realization has now freed me from any discomforting feelings that come about during a misunderstanding, during any kind of disagreement, and when I receive unsolicited advice on what my next step in life should be. Thoughts, opinions, and the energy we extract out of ourselves and onto others is densely bias and based on our personal experience of what life is.

In this episode we thoroughly discuss our recent travel to Costa Rica, the changes we face in communication, and strategies & thoughts on applying [or not applying] social media as we focus in on deep work:
